SJI HEIRLOOM RECIPES

Hello! I’m glad you’re here.

I’m Sara, a wife and a mother of four, who has been homeschooling for over a decade and married to my husband, Kyle, for nearly two. If you and I met in person, we’d likely be sipping coffee chatting about motherhood or food. I am passionate about my family, how we spend our days together, home education, and being intentional in the kitchen with how we nourish our bodies, whether with the foods we eat or the items we use daily.

Kyle and I have been cooking meals from scratch since our earliest days of marriage and parenting. We never shied away from letting our children come along side us to prepare food and explore the kitchen at young ages, pulling veggies from the garden, chopping them on the cutting board, pan searing steak, baking cookies from scratch or whatever they wanted to try. We found it has encouraged a love and appreciation for whole, nourishing foods and what it takes to put a meal on the table. Many of our family’s best memories are created together in the kitchen.

I began soapmaking in 2019 and fell in love with the process of making something useful and beautiful for my family with my own hands. As we began sharing our small batch soap bars with friends and family, the love and demand for them grew. We founded Storehouse Mercantile out of the desire to serve others who want pure, simple, effective, natural soap, skincare and candles in their homes as well.

Whether cold-process soapmaking, handcrafting tallow skincare and beeswax candles or other useful items for my home, baking or cooking from scratch, it brings me joy to pass on the heirloom recipes I’ve refined and curated throughout my years of learning in the kitchen. Every recipe aims to nourish the body and the home naturally and simply with beauty and intention through real food and natural, earth-derived ingredients.

Thank you for being here. I hope you find it restful to your soul and valuable for your family as you craft up goodness in your kitchen along with me. Grab a cup of coffee or tea, sip away and enjoy browsing our family’s tried-and-true favorites.

Love, Sara
